Primary Bedroom Makeover with Lowes

As a homebody, I think your home should be a place where every room brings you comfort, joy, and peace. For me, that is bright neutrals, lots of natural light and textures. I deeply believe the primary bedroom should be a retreat at the end of a long day.

I have completed our bedroom makeover with the help of Lowes. As an affiliate I may earn commission from the links included in this post at no extra cost to you.

March of 2021, I began the process of turning this drab bedroom that was once my husbands bachelor pad into a fab peaceful one. Check it out. But I always felt it was not complete. At the time I was just so happy it was bright and airy as opposed to the dungeon blue. I loved the comforter set, the texture of the throw blanket and accent pillows and of course the unique light fixture. But I didn’t know the rule about curtains back then. I did not understand as much about layers and textures. While it was a huge improvement and I loved it but it needed a bit more.

Thankful to partner with Lowes, I started with the motorized blinds. The shade we went with is linen. I love the texture it gives. It pairs perfectly with our current bedspread and picks up the texture from our tufted bed. They were easy to install and it feels so cool to wake up, click the remote and watch the sunrise shine in. Its also great at night to click a button and close out the world as we begin to wind down for the night.

See the blog all about the blinds here.

Once I had the blinds installed I put up one set of curtains. I knew I wanted to wait to put up the second set of curtains until after wallpaper went up. So I started with the main window we use first. I love these light and airy curtains they are shade oatmeal. They remind me of the ones from our Living and Dining Room but they are a tad cheaper. Since these we won’t be opening or closing they are the perfect airy curtain to anchor the window.

Once the blinds and one of the curtains were up it was time for the accent wall. I fell in love with this wallpaper. It gives texture, a slight design, a small pop but still gives me that warm airy light vibe. I love an accent wall but didn’t want this one to be loud. Its just perfect. This wallpaper is pasted and honestly I may say I like this better than peel and stick. While I still am not great at installing, yes at night you can see the seems, because the paper is so light and neutral you hardly notice during the day! But hey its another project I can say I DID THAT!

Holidays got in the way so it took a bit longer to finally get the second set of curtains installed, but this weekend Ryan installed these simple curtain rods and I was finally able to add the curtains.

Now the room is balanced and complete. For months the accent wall has driven me nuts being unfinished. But life got busy. So cheers to an easy weekend project to install the rod and hang the curtains and I am a happy women again.

Curtains can elevate and tie the whole space together when done correctly. Hang them as high as you can so the bottoms just kiss the floor. Bring them 6-8 inches wider than the window on each side to make the window appear wider and grander. So much better than the old gray ones and way better than the old chunky curtain rods from my husbands bachelor days lol!

Design takes time. I always recommend creating a mood board first. That way you get the overall look on paper and its easy to tweak to make it look right. After the colors and textures are chosen start shopping. Tweak the board as you begin piecing the room together. Then enjoy the finished product. The reason a mood board works is because you get all the thoughts on paper. You choose the theme and colors. If you just choose a random color and then randomly buy pieces the room looks more hodge podge and thrown together.

Its the new year and maybe one of your rooms needs a refresh. It does not take lots of money or fancy things to change the look of a space. The best and cheapest way is with paint. Our room is Sherwin Williams Pure White. Make your home your peaceful happy place!
